Broome County Deputies Arrest Three In Stolen Vehicle

Early yesterday morning, Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an erratic driving report for a vehicle attempting to enter the wrong way onto Route
81 South at Exit 5 in the Town of Dickinson. A short time later, A sheriffs deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop. The operator of
the vehicle, later identified as Zachary Battenfield, jumped out of the still moving vehicle and fled the area on foot. He was apprehended after a brief foot
chase. Two other occupants in the vehicle were also taken into custody. An investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported as stolen from a residence
in Tompkins County earlier this weekend. The three suspects were charged and arraigned in the Town of Dickinson court and remanded to the Broome County
Correctional Facility without bail pending further court proceedings.
