Broome County man gets 12 years to life for assaulting state trooper

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that a Colesville man was sentenced to 12 years to life in prison for assaulting a state trooper last February.

According to the district attorney’s office, Dylan M. Shoemaker was sentenced for assault in the second degree. The assault occurred on Feb. 6, 2023 when troopers responded to Shoemaker’s residence to investigate a domestic incident.

Shoemaker punched a trooper while he was being placed into custody and injured the trooper.

The case was investigated by the New York State Police. Deputy District Attorney Lucas Finley prosecuted the case.
