The Broome County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the Broome County Traffic Safety and Broome County Health Department for a program at Union-Endicott High School on Wednesday.

Students learned about how alcohol, drugs and distractions like cell phones severely inhibit their ability to drive safely and put lives at risk.

Through several exercises and activities, the high school students got to experience how difficult even the simplest tasks can become when just one of their senses are impaired in a controlled environment, let alone dealing with the multiple dangerous side effects caused by being intoxicated or under the influence of drugs while on the road.
