Broome Deputies Make Arrest in Stabbing Death Wednesday in Town of Union

Broome County Sheriff’s Office took 20-year-old Caleb A. Casteline into custody at roughly 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Main Street in Apalachin. Casteline was arrested for 2nd degree murder, a class A-1 felony, in connection with the stabbing death of Q-Quan Richardson at 1395 Robinson Hill Road in the Town of Onion in the early morning hours of August 26. At the time of his arrest, Casteline did not have a permanent address.
Broome County Sheriff’s Office gave these details about the stabbing: On August 26 about 1:41 a.m., the Broome County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male  at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton with stab wounds to his torso. Further investigation indicated the man, identified as Q-Quan Richardson, of Virgil Street, Binghamton, had been at a large outdoor gathering at 1250 Robinson Hill Road in the Town of Union when he was involved in an altercation with another male. During the altercation, deputies said Richardson was stabbed. The suspect fled the area while Richardson was transported to Lourdes via private vehicle. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was transferred to UHS Wilson Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Robinson Hill Road was closed to traffic for several hours Wednesday between Struble Road and the Binghamton Country Club for scene processing.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
