Raymond A. Hansel has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for four sex crimes against a child, including Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a Class A-II Felony, and three first-degree rape charges.

“Fighting for children, who have been preyed upon and sexually assaulted, is the highest priority of the District
Attorney’s Office,” said Broome County District Attorney Michael A. Korchak. “The defendant in this case was investigated by the New York State Police and Child Protective Services, and aggressively prosecuted by the D.A.’s Office; he will now spend 15 years to life in prison.”
At trial in Broome County Court, prosecutors proved Hansel, who had lived in North Carolina, engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct, over a period of time not less than three months in duration, with a female victim less than 13 years old. The crimes were committed in the towns of Union and Conklin, prosecutors said.
Hansel was charged through a direct presentation to a Grand Jury by the District Attorney’s Officein July 2018. He was found guilty at trial on October 29, 2019.
