A pile-up of over 20 cars caused stoppages on Interstate 81 for over an hour on Christmas Eve. Around 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, over twenty vehicles and a Maines tractor trailer crashed right before the New York State Welcome Center on Route 81. Drivers reported that there was a white-out and they were unable to see anything in front of them. As the accident was taking place, the tractor trailer slid into both lanes and pushed three cars off the road entirely. A number of people involved in the pile-up were taken to the hospital by ambulance, but at this time no serious injuries have been reported in the crash.
