A Chenango Valley student who is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout is working on a project to honor his mother and others who have lost their lives to violent crime.
Schyler Savage has teamed up with Broome County and the Crime Victims Assistance Center to create a Crime Victims Memorial Wall in Roundtop Park in Endicott.
Savage, who is a member of Troop 199 in Hillcrest, lost his mother last year to violent crime and wanted to honor her with his Eagle Scout project.
The memorial will feature a retaining wall and patio with a heart shaped garden lined with the names of local victims of violent crime.
Those interested can contact the Crime Victims Assistance Center to donate to the project.
The project is expected to be completed in April.
