Endicott Police ID Missing Man in Susquehanna River Search

UPDATED: Endicott Police Chief Patrick Garey has identified the missing man as David R. Bower, age 47, of Endicott. After police got a report of a missing person, an investigation discovered Bower was on the northern bank of the Susquehanna River early Tuesday morning at the end of Liberty Street during extremely dark conditions and is believed to have fallen off a 10-foot high ledge into the river.


A search was immediately conducted with no success and continued Wednesday, Garey said. New York State Police SCUBA team is patrolling the river with sonar. A command post has been established at Grippen Park. others have been  involved in the search, including Endicott police and fire Departments, Broome County Emergency Services, Broome County Technical Rescue Team, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Campville Fire Department, Endwell Fire Department, Union Emergency Squad and Vestal Police Department.


Endicott police are having difficulty locating appropriate next-of-kin of Bower and request any relatives or friends to contact the Endicott Police Department at (607) 785-3341.
