Thirty apartments had to be evacuated in Endicott after one caught fire just after nine o’clock Tuesday morning. The call came in for a fire at the Bornt Hill Apartments at 207 Bornt Hill Road. A second-story apartment was severely burned, with most of the damage taking place on the front porch and attic space of the apartment. The apartment on the first floor below that apartment also suffered water damage. West Corners Fire Department responded to the initial call. Officials say no one was injured in the fire and everyone was able to evacuate safely. Two people lived in the upstairs apartment that caught fire. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Assisting at the scene were crews from Campville, Endwell, Vestal, and Endicott, along with NYSEG and the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
