The body of an Endicott man was found in the Susquehanna River near Harpursville. 20-year-old Brian Lanzo was in Harpursville visiting friends on Saturday when he is reported to have jumped off a railroad bridge that spans the river around 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. A search operation ensued, with five boats, a helicopter, divers and canines trying to locate Lanzo on Saturday. After the search was unsuccessful Saturday, it resumed around 8:30 Sunday morning, and Lanzo’s body was found in the river just before 9:30 Sunday morning by personnel on a Harpursville Fire Department boat. At least 100 people were reportedly involved in the search. Friends are said to have observed Lanzo in distress before he disappeared under the water in the river. Officials warn against swimming or jumping into rivers as they are cold and moving more swiftly this time of year.
