A man was arrested earlier this month after an alleged domestic incident when a woman gave a note to a waitress at an Endwell business asking for help.

State Police released this report: On October 8, 2019, at approximately 12:45 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Newell A. Dickson, age 28 of Endicott, for the felony of Strangulation in the second degree and the misdemeanor of Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree (preventing an emergency call).

Troopers were dispatched to a business on Hooper Road in the Town of Union on October 5 after a woman gave a note to a waitress that said she had been involved in a domestic dispute and needed help.

Troopers arrived and the woman told them that while in a vehicle with Dickson, they got into an argument and Dickson prevented her from calling 911 and also choked her. Dickson had left the scene but later reported to State Police at Endwell to turn himself in. He was processed and transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

The woman was arrested for possession of suspected methamphetamine and issued an appearance ticket to the Town of Union Court.
