The plane crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon near Sidney has left five people dead, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and New York State Police.
The FAA reported that all four passengers and one flight crew member were killed when their Piper PA-46 plane crashed near Lake Cecil Road in the town of Masonville.
According to the New York State Police, 76-year-old Roger Beggs, 43-year-old Laura VanEpps, 42-year-old Ryan VanEpps, 12-year-old James R. VanEpps and 10-year-old Harrison VanEpps were killed in the crash.
The passengers were in Cooperstown for a baseball tournament. The plane left the Alfred S. Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta and was traveling to West Virginia to refuel before heading to their final destination in Atlanta.
Authorities used drones, ATVs and helicopters in the search for the crash site.
The cause of the plane crash is under investigation.
