New York State Police were called to a crash in the town of Windsor around 7:30 Thursday morning. Police say a Windsor man was driving on Old Route 17 when his vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason. Troopers say his vehicle struck several mailboxes, went through a lawn and over a creek, before landing in a wooded area. Investigation determined that the crash happened around 10:30 Wednesday night, when a resident heard a loud noise but was not able to see what caused it. Another resident called 911 Thursday morning when they spotted the vehicle. Troopers found the driver deceased. The investigation is ongoing.
