Former Johnson City Middle School Principal Daniel Erickson was recently arrested in Steuben County for second-degree rape.

Erickson, who pleaded guilty in April to luring a 16-year-old child in Broome County, was taken into custody last Tuesday night. According to WBNG-TV, he has since been released.

Court records show the alleged rape occurred in July of 2022. Erickson has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to New York State Law, a person is guilty of second-degree rape if they are 18 years or older and had sex with another person who is younger than 15 years old. They are also guilty of this charge if the person they have sex with is incapable of voicing consent for being mentally incapacitated.
