The Johnson City Central School District has announced that the Elementary and Middle School will remain closed today due to the fire over the weekend.
A small fire broke out on Sunday evening in a second-floor classroom. The building was empty at the time of the incident and the fire was contained to one room.
The district is continuing an extensive cleanup to make sure the school is smoke free and safe for the return of students and staff.
The fire has not affected Johnson City High School, which will continue to operate on a normal schedule.
