A Johnson City man was arrested on Monday after police traced his vehicle to a hit and run accident last month, and discovered that he had also been selling narcotics. 28-year-old David Smith was spotted by a Broome County sheriff’s deputy on North Harrison Avenue in Johnson City, parked in his car allegedly engaging in narcotics transactions to several passing vehicles. Smith’s car matched a vehicle that had reportedly knocked over a fire hydrant on Watson Boulevard in Endwell the day after Christmas. When police approached his vehicle, he was found to be in possession of several small packages of cocaine, marijuana, and over $250 in cash. He was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance, along with lesser charges, and was sent to the Broome County Jail.
