As the Johnson City area is still reeling from yesterday’s fatal shooting of Officer David Smith, the police department is looking to begin the process of honoring Smith’s life. At 7:30 tonight, the Johnson City Police Department will be holding a candlelight vigil outside of their headquarters. At a press conference on Monday, Police Chief Joseph Zikuski said that the department is doing all it can to help Smith’s family cope with the tragedy.
Funeral plans and proceedings have yet to be announced at this point, but announcements are expected today or tomorrow.
