Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo announced Thursday the Your Home Public Library in Johnson City has been awarded a $13,662 Public Library Construction Grant by the New York State Library.
This will enable them to make several energy efficiency improvements to the library.
Specific projects the grant will fund include: removal and refitting storm windows and porch door; restoring casements, sash and trim; recaulking and insulating window frames; restoring the entry for heat loss reduction; replacing soffits and repairing gaps under eaves causing energy loss; and, restoring the façade on 3 floors.
The grant is from $14 million in the 2010-2011 state budget allocated for the Public Library Construction Grant Program.
Awards can pay up to a maximum of fifty percent of total eligible project costs, but the size of the award is dependent on the availability of money and the number of applicants applying within an individual public library system.
