The store clerk was able to obtain a license plate, a description of the vehicle they were in, and a direction of travel.
The clerk called 911 to report the incident.
A short time later the vehicle was located on Harry L Drive in Johnson City.
The driver, Jarid Winner, 21, of Oxford was taken into custody and transported to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
The 17 year old victim was uninjured and was transported to his residence.
The investigation revealed that Winner had given the 17 year old money to purchase illicit painkiller pills.
When the 17 year old returned without the pills nor the money Winner demanded the money returned.
The victim stated he could get the money after 3:00pm.
Winner then drove the victim around in his car waiting for time to elapse and subsequently they stopped at the convenience store where the victim alerted the store clerk.
He was arraigned in the Town of Union Court and released on his own recognizance.
