October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a local cancer-stricken couple is raising funds to help others. Owego’s Jocelyn Kline was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has only a few treatments left. Earlier in her battle, Jocelyn and her husband Ryan, were helped by Traci’s Hope, and that caused them to start raising funds to help others. After a wildly successful “Kayaking for a Kure” event in August, the Kline’s are now collecting cans and bottles. They have teamed up with Taylor Garbage to establish ‘Kans for the Kure’. Pink garbage cans are popping up in Tioga and Broome counties courtesy of Taylor’s Garbage, and donations of cans and bottles can also be dropped off at A&S Redemption Center in Owego and Shelly’s Redemption Center in Tioga Center. Ryan Kline hopes to collect 2 million bottles, and donate the funds to Traci’s Hope.
