Today Broome County legislators are heading back to work, trying to figure out how to draw up new districts.
The legislature will downsize from 19 seats to 15 in 2012. At this point, the ad hoc redistricting committee has come up with 12 proposals.
Each new legislative district consists of about 13,500 people. In the coming week they’ll look to whittle it down to three options.
Committee chairman Ron Keibel told YNN that it is going smoother than he thought it would. (Sound)
The hope is for the full legislature to vote on the new boundaries in May.
