Fire crews spent several hours at a home on Airport Road after lightning struck and ignited a fire. The fire broke out around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Seven fire companies including Choconut Center, Prospect Terrace, East Main, Chenango, and Endwell along with the Broome County Sheriff Department and Union Ambulance responded to the emergency. They were on scene until after 11 p.m. A portion of the roof caught fire and collapsed. Fire officials say that lightning had struck the home. The family living there got out safely when they heard the lightning strike. There were no injuries.
