Local election results differ from statewide voting in NY

Yesterday was primary day across New York and the results are in. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton took home the statewide wins for their political parties, however, results for Broome and Tioga County differed from the total statewide vote.

 

Bernie Sanders received the majority Democratic vote in both Broome and Tioga Counties. In Broome County, Sanders secured a 56.6% majority. In Tioga County, Sanders won by a 59.7% majority.

 

Donald Trump secured the majority Republican vote in both Broome and Tioga Counties. In Broome County, Trump won with a 50.4% majority. In Tioga County, he secured a 49.9% majority.

 

Republicans John Kasich came in second and Ted Cruz came in third in both Broome and Tioga Counties.

 

Pennsylvania voters will head to the polls next week.
