Man Charged in Broome Deputy Crash

As a result of the motor vehicle accident Friday morning on Route 17 involving Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy Kristy Botsford, Vestal police have charged Daniel Butash, 34, of Endicott with the following charges:

 

  • DWI
  • Vehicular Assault in the second degree (E Felony)
  • Assault in the 2nd degree (D Felony)

 

Butash, has been at Wilson Hospital and in the custody of the Vestal Police since the incident. He was arraigned on the above charges and remanded to the custody of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division.

 

Botsford, 34, is recovering from her injuries, which included a fractured right femur.

 

She was injured while assisting Vestal police on a call of a car going the wrong way on Route 17. The car, which say was driven by Butash, rammed into her sheriff’s deputy vehicle.

 

More charges may be filed at a later date pending the results of chemical testing and further court action.
