A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in state prison for robbing an Uber driver last year.
According to the Broome County District Attorney’s Office, Jeffrey Lane was sentenced for robbery in the second degree. Following his release from prison, he will serve five years of post-release supervision.
On March 10, 2024, Lane confronted an Uber driver at Helio Health in Binghamton. The situation escalated into a physical altercation and Lane pulled the Uber driver from the vehicle and stole the driver’s Honda Civic.
Lane fled the scene, evading law enforcement at high speeds before eventually being apprehended.
The case was investigated by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
