Members of the Union-Endicott community came out to support boys basketball head coach Jordan Buck, who was recently notified that he would be removed from the position.

According to WBNG-TV, family members, friends, staff and fans of U-E boys basketball showed up at a school board meeting on Monday to ask the board to reverse its decision.

Players explained that Buck was more than just a coach, saying he was just a phone call away and was another father figure for the team.

Buck’s wife asked the school board a simple question — why?

The school district told WBNG that it follows a formal process for hiring all positions including annual coaching appointments. The district said all personnel matters are considered confidential and they will not explain the reasoning behind such decisions.
