Members of the Vestal Central School District community rallied outside of a meeting on Tuesday in an effort to save a soccer field.
According to WBNG-TV, the school district is looking to put a transportation garage where the current Ross Corners soccer field is located as part of its 2024 Capital Project.
In a meeting on Monday, Superintendent Clifford Kasson said moving the garage to the soccer field, which the school district owns, would be the best financial decision for the district. The other option would be to move the garage to a property on Glenwood Road, which is privately owned.
Coaches, students and parents brought signs with them to Tuesday’s meeting looking to convince the district to reconsider their plan.
The school district voted to postpone the move of the transportation garage for now as it looks to find other potential locations.
