Broome County Sheriff’s say they responded to Cafferty Road in Harpursville on Friday for a motorcycle accident. The 2003 Harley was not able to negotiate a left turn and left the roadway into a field. A passerby saw the motorcycle in the field and called 911. 57-year-old Keith Bernhardsen of Harpursville was given first aid at the scene and was transported to Wilson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Colesville Fire Department, Sanitaria Springs Fire Department, Harpursville Fire Department, Colesville Ambulance, Eastern Broome EMS and Broome Volunteer Ambulance.
Broome County officials have identified the victims of the motorcycle accident on Route 26 in Nanticoke on Saturday. 41-year-old Kathryn Schultheis of Binghamton and 39-year-old Brandy Lynn of Newark Valley died in the accident that involved a pickup truck and two motorcycles. The driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Sarah Robbins of Whitney Point was not injured. The investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
