Broome County District Attorney Michael A. Korchak announced Monday his leadership team of prosecutors and law enforcement professionals, who will assist the District Attorney in aggressively prosecuting criminal activity.
Chief Assistant District Attorney and Drug Crimes Bureau Chief: Mark J. Loughran. Loughran has been an attorney for 32 years, working for 17 years as a prosecutor.
Special Victims Bureau Chief: Stephanie M. Milks. Milks is a career prosecutor, now in her tenth year. Milks has prosecuted murder cases, major child sex crimes, rape cases and assaults.
Property, Finance and Fraud Bureau Chief: Timothy E. Thayne. Thayne has been an attorney for 15 years, working for seven years as a prosecutor. As a United States Marine Corps. Veteran, he also supervises Broome County Veterans Treatment Court.
DWI and Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief: Rita M. Basile. Basile has been an attorney for 28 years, working for 25 years as a prosecutor. Over the last several years, she has prosecuted all vehicular manslaughter cases in Broome County.
Appeals and Legal Affairs Bureau Chief: Stephen D. Ferri. Ferri has been an attorney for 23 years, working for 18 years as a prosecutor.
Chief Investigator Jack D. Collins. Collins worked for 25 years as a Police Officer for the Binghamton Police Department, before retiring as Captain of the Detective Bureau.
In addition, District Attorney Korchak announces Debra Gelson has been hired as a Senior Assistant District Attorney. Gelson joins the office with over 30 years’ experience as a defense attorney, former prosecutor and municipal court judge.
