southwestern Chenango County, and east central Tioga County until 900 PM EDT.
At 505 PM EDT… Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was falling and will result in minor flooding. Radar rainfall estimates were
indicating between 2 to 3 inches of rain had fallen in a short time this afternoon.
Additional thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue over the same areas through 7 PM. More showers and storms are expected later this evening as well.
Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Castle Creek… Greene… Maine… Nanticoke… Newark Valley… Smithville

Heavy rain will likely cause areas of ponding of water on town and Village roads in the area. Small streams and creeks are likely to
fill up and may flood over roads near bridges and culverts. Flooding is expected to be mostly minor at this time with minimal damage to property, possibly confined mainly to water in basements.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Flood Advisory means that although streams and creeks may be elevated or even rise out of their banks… property damage will be
minimal.
Inconveniences can be expected but the flooding will not be immediately life threatening.
