For the second straight post-season, No. 3 seed Owego (5-4) will play No. 1 seed Maine-Endwell (9-0) for the Section 4 Class B football championship at 3pm Saturday on a neutral field at Vestal High School. The winner advances to regional bracket with a date next weekend against the Section 3 winner in the NYS championship playoffs.
M-E beat Owego, 42-0, in last season’s Class B title game, and won, 69-0, in the second game of this season. Since that game, though, Owego has stood toe-to-toe with seven opponents for a 4-3 record, including a dramatic one-point win, 21-20, last Friday over Windsor in the Class B semi-final.
In the latest NYSPHSAA rankings, Maine-Endwell remains No. 1 in Class B; Owego received an honorable mention.
