Port Crane woman charged after allegedly firing gun at NYDOT worker

A Port Crane woman was arrested after she allegedly fired a weapon toward a Department of Transportation worker last week.

According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Jennifer L. Warner is facing a felony count of criminal possession of a weapon as well as misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, menacing and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to New York State Route 7B at around 11 a.m. on Nov. 25th for a report of shots fired.

According to police, a member of the Department of Transportation called 911. He said he was clearing brush on State Property with a Bobcat when he heard the gunshot and saw Warner pointing a shotgun at him.

Warner claimed the Department of Transportation was destroying her property.

Police discovered a bolt-action shotgun and four shotgun shells, with one spent, inside her residence. They also allegedly found meth in the house.

Warner was remanded to the Broome County Jail.
