A Queens man was arrested after he allegedly called 911 and falsely reported an incident involving a handgun. Thursday morning, 32-year-old James Harris called Broome County 911 to report three people, one armed with a handgun, in the rear parking lot of a hotel in Chenango. Multiple sheriff’s deputies and state troopers arrived on the scene within a minute of the call, set up a perimeter, and found that no one matching the description was on the premises. Harris then admitted that he made the false report because he thought he was going to be robbed and wanted to summon police to the hotel. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident.
