Senator Akshar has unveiled what he calls his “Small Business Job Revitalization Package.” In this legislative package, Senator Akshar proposes three pieces which aim at helping small businesses in New York State.

Firstly, Senator Akshar has proposed that income tax be capped for businesses making less than $500,000 a year, and reduced for businesses making less than $600,000 a year.

Secondly, Senator Akshar has proposed that the state repeal it’s energy surcharge. By doing this, utility bills would be reduced by an estimated $540 for small businesses and $55 for the average household.

Additionally, the senator has proposed legislation which would extend the state’s STAR program to include small businesses as well. Currently, the STAR program reduces the amount qualifying homeowners must pay in school property taxes.
