The sentence for a Town of Dickinson man who pleaded guilty to putting a toddler in scalding hot water has been upheld.
Christopher Chisholm was sentenced to four years in prison in June of 2011 after he pled guilty to assault in the second degree.
Chisholm appealed the sentence, saying it was too harsh and excessive. The New York Supreme Court of Appeals upheld the sentencing, stating Chisholm grievously injured a young child and received an agreed-upon sentence that was well within permissible range.
The crime itself took place in February of 2011, when Chisholm intentionally injured a toddler he was babysitting by placing the child in a tub full of extremely hot water.
