The Southern Tier has received nearly $2 million dollars in funding for summer jobs for at-risk teenagers.
As part of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Get Offline, Get Outside Initiative, the $1.9 million dollars will provide at-risk teens with the chance to gain job experience and valuable skills over the summer.
According to WBNG-TV, to qualify for the program, the applicants must be between 14 and 20 years old and have a household income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
Broome County will receive $650,000, while Chemung County will receive $259,000, Tioga County will receive $140,000 and Tompkins County will receive $435,000.
