The deadline for filing New York state income taxes has been extended this year by three days.

State officials remind Southern Tier residents that the traditional April 15th deadline has been extended to Monday, April 18th because Emancipation Day will be celebrated on Friday.
Not exactly a fun way to spend the weekend but you’re got time to gather recepits and sharpen your pencil, although the state prefers electronic filing rather than rushing to the post office to mail paper forms at the last minute.
The state has posted software on its website tax.ny.gov to prepare and file your 2015 tax return.
The state has also extended its telephone support from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday by calling 518-457-5181.
