State Police at Kirkwood say an Owego woman was injured and a Binghamton man killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on a snow-covered road in Broome county.
State police issued this report: On Saturday, February 29, at approximately 8:15 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Castle Creek Road in the Town of Chenango.
Police said Mallory Neira, age 22, of Owego, was driving a Toyota Avalon south on Castle Creek Road. Harold Sickles, age 82, of Binghamton, was operating a Buick Lucerne north on Castle Creek Road. The roadway was snow-covered and Neira lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the north lane and struck Sickles’s vehicle head-on.
Neira was transported to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Police did not release any information on the extent of her injuries. Sickles was transported by Chenango Ambulance to UHS Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
