A fire early Wednesday morning claimed the life of an elderly woman in the Town of Chenango.
Fire dispatchers were alerted to the fire at 21 South Morningside Drive by a security system fire alarm at about 5AM.
Her body was taken to UHS Wilson Medical Center for an autopsy.
The sheriff’s office hasn’t yet released the victim’s name; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
