A Town of Greene man is facing murder charges following an altercation on Monday. State Police out of Norwich have arrested a 29-year-old Kyle Whitfield for murder in the second degree. Whitfield was arrested after an investigation into a physical altercation, and the subsequent stabbing death of 33-year-old James Button Jr. of Greene. The incident is said to have taken place around 3:30 in the afternoon Monday on Loomis Lane in Greene. Whitfield was arraigned in the Town of Smithville Court and sent to the Chenango County Jail without bail. New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Village of Green Police Department.
