A fire Tuesday afternoon in Kirkwood was extinguished quickly. State Police responded to 41 Loughlin Road around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon after receiving a call that a mobile home had caught fire. According to the Five Mile Point Fire Department, troopers already on the scene used fire extinguishers to knock down the flames before fire crews even arrived on the scene. The quick response kept the fire contained to just the bathroom, leaving only minor smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. No one was home at the time of the fire, but two cats were saved from the residence. Crews from Conklin, Kirkwood, and West Windsor all responded to the call.
