With Owego Elementary students no longer attending classes at Linnaeus W. West, the Union-Endicott School District is continuing in their plan to repurpose the space on Union Center Maine Highway in West Corners. Plans are still being developed to turn the building into an alternative high school, a school for special education students, as well as a business incubator. Of course with the combination of a school and public business space, the district is working to ensure the spaces are safe and efficient for all. In addition, the district is continuing in their efforts to receive 1 of 5 national $10 Million Dollar Grants.
Superintendent of Union-Endicott Schools, Dr. Suzanne McLeod says the district will go through with their repurposing with or without the grant. The Owego-Apalachin School District retains rental of Linnaeus W. West through the end of January.
