The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for southern Broome County,
southeastern Tioga County, and northwestern Susquehanna County until 1145 PM EDT
* at 842 PM EDT… Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was falling and will result in minor flooding.
* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Great Bend… Apalachin… Binghamton… Candor… Castle Creek… Chenango
Bridge… Chenango Forks… Conklin… Endwell… Kirkwood… Newark Valley… Nichols… Owego… Sanitaria Springs… Vestal… Vestal
Center and Windsor.
Thunderstorms… with very heavy rainfall… will cross the region through at least 930 PM. Rainfall rates of an inch or more per hour
are possible… and will likely create runoff problems in urbanized and poor drainage areas.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams… and ponding of water in urban areas…
highways… streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
