The SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier put on its second program in a three-part series on college towns yesterday afternoon. The city of Binghamton recently made national rankings as the 28th best college town in the nation. BU officials are partnering with SUNY BEST in an effort to better connect students with the surrounding community. Experts say being part of being a strong college town involves not only growing current student enrollment, but also creating an environment young people want to settle down in even after they receive their diploma. Binghamton University said most recent graduates have similar priorities when deciding where to live after graduating. The university said attracting new businesses and expanding public transportation are important first steps in making the area a more appealing place to live.
