A convenience store worker has been fired after she stole from a charity fundraiser. 18-year-old Katlynn Carangelo of Vestal was arrested Wednesday on charges that she stole funds on three separate occasions from a Muscular Dystrophy Association fundraiser at the Express Mart at which she worked. The manager of the store was taking place in a “MDA Lock-up” fundraiser, in which a person is “locked up” until enough money is raised for them to get “bailed” out. The store had advertised the fundraiser and put a policy in place for how employees should handle any donated funds. When about $70 of the donation money came up missing, the store manager reviewed store surveillance videos and observed Carangelo taking money from the donations on three separate days. She was terminated from the Express Mart, and arrested. She is due in the Town of Union Court at a later date.
