Man Sentenced in Crash that Injured Broome County Deputy

Daniel T. Butash was sentenced Friday morning to two and one-third to seven years in prison for Aggravated Vehicular Assault, and second-degree Assault, motor vehicle crash Feb. 1 crash in the Town of Vestal, which resulted in serious physical injury to Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy Kristy Botsford.

  • 120.04-a Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a Class C Felony; and
  • 120.05 Assault, in the second degree, a Class D Felony.

Butash, while operating a 2018 Tesla motor vehicle, had a blood alchol content at least 0.18 percent and as a result of such intoxication did operate his motor vehicle in a manner that caused serious physical injury to Deputy Botsford.
