Sometimes the news, is that there IS NO news. Police say Facebook rumors got out of hand and suggested that a shooting may have taken place at the Vestal Wal-Mart. No such incident actually occurred. Vestal Police say they responded to the Town Square Mall for a suspicious persons complaint. They located, questioned and subsequently attempted to arrest a 24-year-old male. The man resisted arrest and fled into Walmart where a short foot pursuit ensued inside the store. Vestal Police say officers were yelling for customers to get out of the area where the male was for their safety, but at no time was there a gun or weapon displayed by the male.Patrols were able to take the man into custody, where he was then taken back to the Vestal Police station.
