Nearly 60 flood-damaged homes will be demolished in Vestal. The Town Board agreed Wednesday night to open up bidding for contractors who will tear down 59 of the town’s worst flood-damaged homes. Town Supervisor John Schaffer says 10 homes will be knocked down immediately because of asbestos contamination. The rest could be torn down by September.
Schaffer says the lots will become what he calls “green forever” spaces. Bids for the work will go out May 20. The board has yet to decide whether one or multiple companies will do the work.
