The New York State Department of Transportation Regional Director Jack Williams announced that construction of the State Route 201 bridges over State Route 434 (Vestal Parkway) and Vestal Road in the Town of Vestal will begin on May 23rd.
At midnight Sunday night, State Route 201 will be closed from the Vestal Road Bridge to State Route 434.
At a cost of approximately $13 million, the project involves the replacement of two deficient bridges carrying State Route 201 over State Route 434, and Route 201 over Vestal Road.
Work also includes safety and mobility improvements to ramps and intersections.
Sidewalk work and median improvements will address pedestrian safety.
This highway handles approximately 30 thousand vehicles daily.
Detour guidance signs will be in place to instruct and help the public.
Route 201 in Vestal is expected to reopen on or about September 6, weather permitting.
