More than 30 Vestal High School students are hard at work at the Youth Police Academy. It’s put on by the school district and the Vestal Police Department. Students participate in a variety of activities, including physical training. There’s also workshops and demonstrations on self defense, domestic violence, accident reconstruction and more.
Even if participants aren’t interested in a career in law enforcement, they learn leadership and team building skills for the future. This is the second year for the program and it features new and returning students.
The academy lasts two weeks.
